It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

...to everyone else but me! Anyone know where I can get some discounted [there's a recession out there and I need to be wise about how I spend my hard earned $$] Christmas Spirit?? Up until 3 days ago, we've had very mild weather, with temps sometimes hovering around the low to mid 60's!!! It's felt more like fall than winter.

I went to Walmart and the garden center smelled GLORIOUS, redolent of Christmas scents- you know, the pine-y, mint-y, cinnamon-y smell?? I took a couple deep breaths to take it all in and that brought a smile to my face and left me in the Christmas mood- but as soon as I left the store, the feeling quickly disappeared :-( I usually prepare myself for the Christmas holiday by indulging in a hearty Thanksgiving dinner but I didn't get to have thanksgiving this year. I spent the day in the airport and had a burrito bowl from Chipotle which served as my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chipotle usually has good food, but the food at the Dulles Airport location was not as tasty, very very bland, but because I was hungry, I forced myself to eat it and I'm glad I did, because the dinner served on the plane was even worse.

Anyway, I've been thinking about pimping out my car to see if it will get me in the mood. I had this in mind:

Only problem is, my car doesn’t really have a grill...actually it does, but it's very weird. Also, the emblem is sealed off from the back so there is no way of tying a wreath or bow to it L. Guess the makers didn't have wreaths in mind when they designed and built the car, ha ha. I think I’m going to try hooking the wreath from the inside of the hood…see how that works.

If that doesn't work, I'll just drink some eggnog and eat some candy canes and fruitcake and

call it a day.

Also, no one is responding to any of my messages: emails, bbms, texts, gchat etc etc! WOE IS ME

Eye contact

I've been wearing glasses "on and off" for about 14 years now thanks to astigmatism and myopia. I've had more off years than on which I guess explains how fast my eyes have deteriorated. I've turned a new leaf though; I have been a stickler for wearing my glasses religiously these past [gasp] THREE years! But I'm tired of them so I want the next best? alternative: Contact lenses. Lasik is NOT an option.

Anyway, I've always had reservations for contacts for 2 reasons: I saw what an infection from wearing contacts for 3 days without taking them out and cleaning them can look like and it was a quite traumatizing discovery. Secondly, I have an issue with sticking a foreign object in/on my eyes and plucking it out...that idea just doesn't jive well with me. But these days, I realize that this fear has been holding me back, because you really can't (be sexy) wear[ing] glasses say at a club, or a night out on the town, or at the beach, or playing sports etc etc etc, you catch my drift??

So I decided that I will get fitted for contacts! I have an annual exam coming up so I called my Drs. office to see what the process is for getting contacts:

Apparently you must take a 30-45 minute 'training class' if you have never worn contacts! And the kicker: if you are unable to put on and take out the contacts THREE times, you will not be allowed to take the contacts home with you. Essentially, you fail Contacts 101 :-|
Imagine explaining that to friends and family...

Who knew wearing contacts could be so intense!

I saw it coming...

I should NOT have spent more than half of my day playing Fruit Ninja at work yesterday.

I am now SCRAMBLING to get work done as I have been hit with 2 more deadlines. I guess the laptop will be coming home with me tonight.

Certified Fruit Ninja -- Ka-Pow!

I've spent over half of my day playing Fruit Ninja on my Ipad K

Yeahhhh, it’s been one of “those days” at the office. I just can’t seem to bring myself to do any real work today. Happy Hump Day to me! Well, the good news is, with all the practice I've put in today, I will be able to beat T.O.’s best score. The bad news is, I have to scramble to meet my Friday deadline for the work I should have been doing today. But it isn't all bad really, because I work well under pressure...ish.

Is it 4:45pm Friday July 15th yet?? L

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, off to practice my ninja fruit cutting skills I go! Making Sensei proud.

This easter Sunday, I spent my time with a friend at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in DC.

Not only are all the Smithsonian museums FREE, they also house some of the most extensive artifacts/specimens on earth. Their wikipedia and webpage provides more information.

One word to describe this museum: AWESOME!! It's a definite must see for ANYONE who is in the area and doesn't have any money but still wants to have a good time, I believe the kids these days call it balling on a budget, no? oh ok. We walked for about 2.5 hours and I'm pretty sure we didn't cover 100% the whole museum.

Ghana was heavily represented in the African Voices exhibition which was pretty neat, pics below.

I have plans of visiting the rest of the museums this summer and I am pretty darn excited!

How the Grinch Ruined Christmas- in April

I just has a major MAJOR BUZZ KILL!!

The mail guy just waked into the office and delivered a fairly large box to my coworker....

Said coworker runs to me with one of the smaller packages inside the large box and says with genuine excitement and that excitement could only mean one thing, iPads!

"Hey Miss Raine, they arrived, the iPad's .......[5 second pause]............ CASES, that is!!!!!!!!"

The big smile immediately disappeared from my face :(

I want my iPad NOW!!!!!!!!!

Back Story:

We are revamping our technology here at work and we've put in an order for a few Mac products including (30!) iPads, (3)macbooks, (3)pc laptops, etc etc. Because of the devastating earthquake and resulting tsunami that hit Japan last month (my prayers to go those brave people of Japan- did anyone see how organized they were hours/days following the disaster? And what about the destroyed impassable road they fixed in like 3 days? Amazing! but anyway, I digress) there has been a serious backlog for iPads. So imagine my surprise when my coworker came to me and said the iPads he ordered 2 weeks ago had arrived, but of course, they hadn't arrived. The CASES had arrived.

I just want my work issued iPad, thats all.
